Well made utility sink, but pricey
This cast-iron, Kohler utility sink, by all appearances, seem to be well made. The white enamel finish is visibly smooth and flawless, and the sink is quite hefty, weighing over 80 lbs. The under-counter mount, as compared with self-rimming, may provide a cleaner look and some more counter surface. With a previous self-rimming, cast-iron sink (not a Kohler), the enamel sustained chips on the rimmed edges over time, which eventually resulted in some rusting of the iron. (This may from inferior manufacturing rather than the type of sink.) Moreover, water inevitably collects around the rim and is a maintenance hassle. Therefore, I recommend under-counter mount, when possible, which requires expensive tear-out and a new counter if remodeling.
One of my gripe is the cost of this relative small sink (21x22x13.6 in), which is over $400. The other complaint is that this heavy sink comes from the manufacturer packed with minimal protection, especially around the corners. The sink...
